Το 1928, η Virginia Woolf έγραψε το Orlando: A Biography, το πρώτο μυθιστόρημα στο οποίο ο βασικός χαρακτήρας αλλάζει φύλο ενώ εκτυλίσσεται η πλοκή. Έναν αιώνα αργότερα, ο τρανς συγγραφέας και ακτιβιστής Paul B. Preciado αποφασίζει να στείλει μια κινηματογραφική επιστολή στη Virginia Woolf: η Ορλάντο της έχει εγκαταλείψει τον μυθοπλαστικό της κόσμο και ζει μια ζωή που η συγγραφέας της δεν θα μπορούσε ποτέ να φανταστεί. Ο Preciado ενορχηστρώνει το κάστινγκ και συγκεντρώνει 26 σύγχρονα τρανς και μη-δυαδικά άτομα μεταξύ 8 και 70 ετών, τα οποία ενσαρκώνουν τα Ορλάντο.
Η προβολή γίνεται με αφορμή τη Διεθνή Ημέρα Τρανς Ορατότητας (31/3) ως μια ευκαιρία να σταθούμε συλλογικά απέναντι στη βία, τη διαγραφή και την επιτήρηση που συνεχίζουν να διαπερνούν τις τρανς ζωές αλλά και να αναδείξουμε τις μορφές κοινότητας, αυτοδιάθεσης και αγώνα που αυτές οικοδομούν. Η ταινία του Preciado μετατρέπει τη λογοτεχνία σε πολιτική πράξη και την αυτοβιογραφία σε συλλογική αφήγηση, φωτίζοντας τη μετάβαση όχι μόνο ως προσωπική εμπειρία αλλά και ως πεδίο γλώσσας, ιστορίας και χειραφέτησης.

The screening will be followed by a short (15') recorded interview with the director about the film.
In 1928 Virginia Woolf wrote Orlando: A Biography, the first novel in which the central character changes sex as the plot unfolds. A century later, trans writer and activist Paul B. Preciado decides to send a cinematic letter to Virginia Woolf: her Orlando has left the fictional world and is now living a life that its author could never have imagined. Preciado orchestrates the casting and brings together 26 contemporary trans and non-binary people between the ages of 8 and 70, who embody the many Orlandos.
This screening takes place on the occasion of International Trans Day of Visibility (31/3) as an opportunity to collectively stand against the violence, erasure and surveillance that continue to shape trans lives while also highlighting the forms of community, self-determination and struggle that they build. Preciado's film turns literature into a political act and autobiography into a collective narrative, illuminating transition not only as a personal experience but also as a field of language, history and emancipation.
