Οι τέσσερις επόμενες προβολές μας κινούνται γύρω από διαφορετικές μορφές μετακίνησης, εγκλωβισμού και πειθάρχησης: ανθρώπων που διασχίζουν σύνορα, ζωών που παγιδεύονται σε κοινωνικούς ρόλους και ταυτότητες, σωμάτων που εξαντλούνται σε καθεστώτα εργασίας και επιβίωσης, νεολαιών που μεγαλώνουν μέσα στον φόβο και τον εθνικισμό.
Από τις διεθνείς διαδρομές της προσφυγιάς στο Human Flow, στην αστική αυτάρκεια που σατιρίζει ο Μπουνιουέλ, από την υπαρξιακή παγίδα του Woman in the Dunes μέχρι τη βίαιη κανονικότητα του This Is England, οι ταινίες αυτές δεν μιλούν για «μακρινούς άλλους». Μιλούν για τις υλικές, κοινωνικές και ιδεολογικές συνθήκες που διαμορφώνουν τις ζωές μας στο εδώ και στο τώρα.
Μας ενδιαφέρει το σινεμά ως χώρος κοινής θέασης και σκέψης, όχι ως κατανάλωση. Ως αφορμή για να δούμε μαζί πώς η εξουσία, η ανισότητα και η απομόνωση παράγονται καθημερινά και πώς μπορούν να αμφισβητηθούν συλλογικά.

Lives in Motion, Lives Under Pressure
Our next four screenings focus on different forms of movement, confinement and discipline: people crossing borders, lives trapped in social roles and identities, bodies exhausted under regimes of labor and survival, young people growing up amid fear and nationalism.
From the international refugee routes of Human Flow, to the bourgeois self-sufficiency satirized by Buñuel, from the existential trap of Woman in the Dunes to the violent normality of This Is England, these films do not speak about "distant others". They speak about the material, social and ideological conditions that shape our lives here and now.
We are interested in cinema as a space for shared viewing and collective reflection, not as consumption. As an occasion to examine together how power, inequality and isolation are produced on a daily basis and how they can be challenged collectively.
We invite you to four evenings of collective screenings and discussion, on Wednesdays:

Το This Is England είναι μια ωμή τοιχογραφία της νεανικής εμπειρίας στη Βρετανία των αρχών της δεκαετίας του '80 σε μια περίοδο μαζικής ανεργίας, κοινωνικής αποσύνθεσης και ανόδου της ακροδεξιάς. Μέσα από τα μάτια του δωδεκάχρονου Shaun η ταινία καταγράφει πώς η φτώχεια, η απώλεια και η μοναξιά μετατρέπονται σε έδαφος για την καλλιέργεια μίσους και εθνικισμού. Ο Shaun παιδί εργατικής οικογένειας και γιος ενός στρατιώτη που σκοτώθηκε στον πόλεμο αναζητά απεγνωσμένα αποδοχή και προστασία. Τη βρίσκει σε μια παρέα skinheads που αρχικά εμφανίζεται ως χώρος φιλίας, παιχνιδιού και συλλογικής ταυτότητας. Σταδιακά όμως η ομάδα μετασχηματίζεται σε φορέα ρατσιστικής και φασιστικής ιδεολογίας καθώς η οργή και η ματαίωση διοχετεύονται πολιτικά προς τα κάτω και προς τα έξω.
Ο Meadows δεν προσεγγίζει τον ρατσισμό ως ατομική παρέκκλιση αλλά ως κοινωνικό σύμπτωμα. Δείχνει πώς η οικονομική επισφάλεια, η διάλυση των κοινοτήτων και η απουσία προοπτικής παράγουν υποκείμενα ευάλωτα στη βία και στον αυταρχισμό. Η ακροδεξιά δεν εμφανίζεται ως ξένο σώμα αλλά ως «λύση» που προσφέρεται σε ανθρώπους που έχουν ήδη εγκαταλειφθεί. Ταυτόχρονα, η ταινία αποφεύγει τον διδακτισμό. Δεν ηθικολογεί ούτε απλοποιεί αλλά παρακολουθεί με ενσυναίσθηση τις διαδρομές των χαρακτήρων, τις αντιφάσεις, τις ενοχές και τις μικρές στιγμές τρυφερότητας που συνυπάρχουν με τη βία.
Σε μια περίοδο όπου ο εθνικισμός, ο ρατσισμός και η στοχοποίηση των «άλλων» επανεμφανίζονται ως πολιτικές κανονικότητες, η ταινία παραμένει εξαιρετικά επίκαιρη. Μας καλεί να δούμε τα αποτελέσματα και τις κοινωνικές ρίζες αυτών των φαινομένων καθώς και τη δική μας θέση μέσα σε αυτά.

This Is England is a raw and powerful portrait of youth in early 1980s Britain at a time of mass unemployment, social disintegration and the rise of the far right. Through the eyes of twelve-year-old Shaun the film traces how poverty, loss and loneliness become fertile ground for the cultivation of hatred and nationalism. Shaun the son of a working-class family and of a soldier killed in war, desperately seeks acceptance and protection. He finds it in a group of skinheads which at first appears as a space of friendship, play and collective identity. Gradually however the group is transformed into a carrier of racist and fascist ideology as anger and frustration are politically redirected downward and outward.
Meadows does not approach racism as an individual deviation but as a social symptom. He shows how economic insecurity, the breakdown of communities and the absence of future prospects produce subjects vulnerable to violence and authoritarianism. The far right does not appear as a foreign body but as a "solution" offered to people who have already been abandoned. At the same time the film avoids moralism and didacticism. It neither simplifies nor judges but follows the characters' trajectories with empathy, attending to their contradictions, their guilt and the small moments of tenderness that coexist with violence.
At a time when nationalism, racism and the targeting of "others" are once again becoming political norms, the film remains strikingly relevant. It invites us to examine the outcomes and the social roots of these phenomena as well as our own position within them.
