Mediterráneo is a fiction film based on real events, filmed in a documentary-like style. It follows the work of refugee rescue teams in the Mediterranean and their daily confrontation with death at Europe's sea borders. It shows how the so-called "humanitarian crisis" is the result of political choices, not a natural phenomenon.

This screening is dedicated to the memory of the people murdered off the coast of Chios on 3/2/2026, as well as to all those who were injured or lost at sea. What happened was not an accident. It was the outcome of policies that turn borders into mechanisms of death.

The militarization of the Aegean, pushbacks, institutional impunity, and the systematic devaluation of migrant lives create a regime in which drowning is treated as an acceptable cost. The film shows the consequences of these policies on real bodies and real lives.

We see cinema as a space for collective reflection, where images can be connected to responsibility and to the political decisions that produce them.

We invite you to a collective screening and discussion, so that death at the borders does not become normal.

Το Mediterráneo είναι ταινία μυθοπλασίας, βασισμένη σε πραγματικά γεγονότα και γυρισμένη με ντοκιμαντερίστικο τρόπο. Ακολουθεί τη δράση ομάδων διάσωσης προσφύγων στη Μεσόγειο και την καθημερινή επαφή με τον θάνατο στα θαλάσσια σύνορα της Ευρώπης. Δείχνει πώς η «ανθρωπιστική κρίση» είναι αποτέλεσμα πολιτικών επιλογών και όχι φυσικό φαινόμενο.

Η προβολή αυτή είναι αφιερωμένη στη μνήμη των ανθρώπων που δολοφονήθηκαν ανοιχτά της Χίου στις 3/2/2026, καθώς και σε όσα άτομα τραυματίστηκαν ή χάθηκαν στη θάλασσα. Αυτό που συνέβη δεν ήταν ατύχημα, αλλά το αποτέλεσμα μιας πολιτικής που μετατρέπει τα σύνορα σε μηχανισμό θανάτου.

Η στρατιωτικοποίηση του Αιγαίου, οι επαναπροωθήσεις, η ατιμωρησία και η συστηματική απαξίωση των ζωών των μεταναστ-ρι-ών συγκροτούν ένα καθεστώς όπου ο πνιγμός θεωρείται αποδεκτό κόστος. Η ταινία δείχνει τις συνέπειες αυτής της πολιτικής πάνω σε πραγματικά σώματα και ζωές.

Μας ενδιαφέρει το σινεμά ως χώρος σκέψης, για να συνδέσουμε τις εικόνες με τις ευθύνες και τις πολιτικές επιλογές που τις παράγουν.

Σας καλούμε σε μια συλλογική προβολή και συζήτηση, για να μη συνηθίσουμε τον θάνατο στα σύνορα.
